A recent discovery in the village

This bracelet with the name Witkowski Franciszek was discovered recently in the area where the Polish Barracks were located on the hillside to the right of Church Street looking North.
Our investigations have discovered that it is a French Army ID bracelet and that he was a member of the Polish Independent Carpathian Rifle Brigade. This unit formed in 1940 in French Syria composed of Polish soldiers exiled after the invasion of Poland. The division fought with distinction during the Siege of Tobruk.
